People all over the world will be celebrating the Feast Day of the Patron Saint of Animals, Saint Francis of Assisi. It's customary that in remembrance of St. Francis' love for all creatures, animals are led to churches for a special ceremony called the "Blessing of the Pets" or "Blessing of the Animals." Every year, millions of animals are blessed in a ceremony that touches the hearts of most in attendance. The First Congregational Church is hosting the Annual Blessing of the Animals with the Trinity Episcopal Church and St. Charles Church this year. Bring your loved animals to be blessed on Sunday, October 6. We will meet at the First Congregational Church
(4 Highland St. in Meredith) at 1:30pm. This year we plan to remember our deceased pets as part of our service. Park in back; weather permitting, the blessing will be on the side lawn. All pets should be “comfortably restrained” for their safety.
